Getting Started

How do I create a character?
Tap the Characters tab, then tap 'Add Character'. Enter your child's name, age, and some details about their personality and interests. You can also upload a photo to help personalize illustrations.
How long are the stories?
You can choose from Quick (3 minutes), Standard (5 minutes), Extended (10 minutes), or Extra Long (15 minutes). The duration affects how detailed and complex the story will be.
What languages are supported?
StoryLark currently supports English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, and Chinese. Both the app interface and story generation work in all these languages.
What's the difference between Classic and Interactive mode?
Classic mode generates a complete story upfront that you can listen to from start to finish. Interactive mode is a choose-your-own-adventure style where your child makes choices that affect the story's direction.

Account & Billing

How do I change my subscription?
Go to Settings in the app, tap on 'Subscription', and you can upgrade, downgrade, or manage your plan. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel through the App Store's subscription management. Go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions > StoryLark > Cancel. You'll keep access until your current period ends.
How do I restore my purchases?
Go to Settings in the app and tap 'Restore Purchases'. This will sync your subscription status if you've reinstalled the app or are using a new device.
Do unused stories roll over?
No, story credits reset each billing period. This keeps our pricing simple and ensures everyone gets a fresh allocation each month.

Technical Issues

Why won't my audio play?
First, check that your device isn't on silent mode. Also ensure the app has permission to play audio. If using Bluetooth headphones, try disconnecting and reconnecting them.
How do I download stories for offline use?
On any story card, tap the download icon (cloud with arrow). The story, including audio and images, will be saved for offline playback. You can manage downloads in Settings.
The app crashed or froze. What should I do?
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, restart your device. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app - your account data is saved in the cloud.
Why are my stories taking a long time to generate?
Story generation typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on length and complexity. If it takes longer, check your internet connection. Our servers occasionally experience high demand.
